Understanding CNA License Renewal
Continuing education ensures healthcare professionals maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and effective patient care.
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in Florida are required to complete specific continuing education topics during each renewal cycle in order to maintain an active certification. These requirements are established by the Florida Board of Nursing and are designed to ensure CNAs remain current on essential care practices and patient safety standards.
Continuing education compliance is verified electronically through CE Broker, the official continuing education tracking system used by the Florida Department of Health. When a CNA renews their certification, the Department of Health reviews their continuing education record through CE Broker to confirm that all required hours have been completed.
If the required hours are properly completed and documented, the renewal process proceeds without interruption. If required training is missing, the CNA must complete the remaining continuing education before the certification can be renewed.
To monitor continuing education records and confirm completed hours have been reported, CNAs are encouraged to maintain a free CE Broker Basic account.
CNA Training & Testing Center is an approved continuing education provider through the Florida Board of Nursing. Our courses are developed to meet Florida compliance standards while providing practical knowledge healthcare professionals can apply in real-world care settings.
For applicable CNA courses, completed continuing education hours are reported directly to CE Broker to support accurate renewal documentation.

Home Health Aide (HHA) In-Service Training Requirements
Home Health Aides (HHAs) working in Florida home health agencies must complete annual in-service training in order to remain compliant with state and federal care standards.
In-service training requirements for HHAs are regulated through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and federal Medicare Conditions of Participation for home health agencies.
Home Health Aides must complete a minimum of 12 hours of in-service training each year. These training hours are designed to ensure caregivers remain current on best practices, patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards.
Unlike CNA license renewal, HHA in-service training is typically tracked by the employing home health agency, which is responsible for ensuring staff members complete their required training each year.
CNA Training & Testing Center provides online in-service training designed to help HHAs and home health agencies meet AHCA compliance standards while strengthening caregiver knowledge and skills.
