As a home health aide, you come to the rescue, becoming a hero to your clients and their families. You give the family peace of mind, providing tender, loving, and compassionate care when the family is unable to do so themselves. The Home Health Aide diploma program is up to three (3) weeks and includes instructor-led classroom and practical hands-on application. The program includes basic home health aide skills and meets Medicare standards. There are no licensing exams in order to work as a Home Health Aide.

Program Details

The Home Health Aide diploma program includes instructor-led classroom, self-paced online options, and practical hands-on application. The program includes basic home health aide skills and meets Medicare standards. There are no licensing exams in order to work as a Home Health Aide.

Upon completion of this program, graduates will possess the skills and knowledge to become employed as a Home Health Aide helping the elderly, convalescent, or disabled persons live in their own homes and qualify to work at Medicare approved agencies.

Home Health Aides help people who are disabled, chronically ill, or cognitively impaired, as well as elder adults who need assistance with activities of daily living such as help with bathing, dressing, grooming, taking vital sign and reporting observations. HHAs are companions to those who need it most.

To work for a Medicare or Medicaid home health agency, an HHA must have a Home Health diploma from an institution licensed by the Florida Department of Education’s Commission for Independent Education.

Our Home Health Aide diploma program is licensed through our Career Training Institute #6049 by the Florida Department of Education.

Sample Knowledge and Skill Topics

This course will teach theory specific to home health aide, legal and ethical responsibilities specific to home health aide, principles of nutrition, and basic infection control.

The Home Health Diploma program also includes:

  • Four (4) hours of basic life support (BLS) cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
  • Six (6) hour self-administered medication and prevention of medical errors training

The student will perform physical comfort and safety functions and provide personal patient care and procedures in the clinical setting, as well as home health-care services.

Requirements

If you are at least 18 years old, a high school diploma or GED is not required. Previous healthcare experience is not required.
